MOTOSPORT motorcycle magazine was founded in 1978 by its current publisher and CEO Dimitris Papandreou, at a VERY young age at the time! It was the first ever Greek motorcycle magazine, which practically “introduced” motorcycling in the country. Back in 1978 there were very few motorcycle shops, no rider’s accessories whatsoever and very little knowledge of modern commerce, after sales service, even racing! MOTOSPORT had to “learn and teach” each and every one of these topics, and gradually became the highest selling magazine in the specialized press sector, automotive magazines included.
After 25 years of continuous publishing, MOTOSPORT’s management opted for a short “break” of the publication, in order to “fresh up” the magazine. Due to other ventures of our company, as well as the financial crisis and the 7 year long recession that hit abruptly our country, the motorcycle sector started to seize in favour of small and medium capacity commuting vehicles (primary scooters and cabs). Today, in July 2014, MOTOSPORT magazine returns to the newstands to boost the idea of motorcycling (and not just “commuting on a two wheeler), very much in the manner it did so back in 1978. The “new” MOTOSPORT is an expensive publication based heavily on photography, motorcycle history and well written “essays” –not “tests”– about all the new models. We refer to it as a “Collector’s edition” and it is a bimonthly publication.
